New Business

Motion was made and passed to accept a second student representatives on the Committee.  April Angotti, a Communication Design student will be the second student representative.
Committee discussed possible activities for the year. Several activities were chosen.

Silent Film with Live Accompaniment

Lynchburg College
5th Annual Race, Poverty, and Social Justice Conference (RPSJ).
Keynote Speaker - Leland Melvin – Friday evening, Nov. 3
Keynote Speaker - Dr. Robert Lee IV – Saturday, Nov. 4
Students are free with Student ID, but must register online.
 
November 18
 
International Civil Rights Museum, Greensboro, NC – in the old Woolworth’s store where the sit-ins begin.  Possibly pair with Ebony Fashion show at NC Museum of Art.
 
December 8
 
American Shakespeare Center, Staunton
Christmas Carol.  We will use two vans and eat dinner near the Center.

Spring Events
 
Trip to Washington, D.C. to be discussed after pricing and ticket purchasing for the National Museum of African American History and Culture is researched.
 
Virginia Museum of Fine Art – Terracotta Warriors Exhibit – Dates discussed Jan. 27th and Feb 3rd.
 
Renaissance Theatre – Hair – March?
 
Lynchburg Symphony Orchestra – A Journey Through space – Apr. 15th.
 
Discussed showing a free video found on YouTube about the history of the Lynchburg music scene
 
International Day will be Wednesday April 18th.
 
CVCC Student Art Show will be Friday, April 20th
 
 

Discussion

David discussed having a big read on campus and using the book Hidden Figures.
Jill Markwood and April Angotti will work on advertising events.
