5. Old Business

We still have a lot of open positions to fill on Governance Committees.  Please let Sarah know if you are able to step up and volunteer for one.  Donna Grant-Paige volunteered for Employee Recognition Committee.

We still have an opening for our Recorder for the PTSA.  Any volunteers?

Don’t forget to apply for Professional Development funds.  Deadline is Friday for events happening through December 31.  This includes professional organization memberships, conferences, etc.  Be sure and read emails from “Professional Development” to stay in the loop on deadlines and opportunities.

6. New Business

Review of Part-Time Staff survey results

Due to low numbers of participants, the survey will be re-sent.

Goal Setting for this year

Fundraiser – Yes, we would like to do something.  Cynthia has contacts with Domino’s, Golden Corral, and Chick Fil-A.  New ideas can be explored, including checking with Chomps to see what they might like to do.

Service Project-To be determined.

Social Event-To be determined.

Great ideas to make CVCC better—We came up with two ideas and Sarah will share them with the appropriate areas, on behalf of the PTSA.  1.  Have a set campus tour day and time, “Welcome Wednesdays” or something like that, where a Student Ambassador is on-site and ready to give a tour.  2.  Have Enrollment Lab orientations on a certain day and time each week to review how to the use “mycvcc” account.  Students learn this in SDV 100, but not all students take this and they may not remember when they need to actually use it again.

7. Educational Program – Michel Mavinga

Presenting on “What Color is Your Parachute?” book for finding your career passion.  The overview was inspirational and discussed identifying your transferable skills, and ways that people actually find jobs needs to go beyond looking for open positions.
