Dr. Lofaso called the meeting to order. She provided an update on the visit to the Lynchburg College Writing Center.  The meeting raised several questions for consideration concerning timing of training tutors, space availability, compensation, and qualifications of tutors.
At Mr. Sandidge’s request, Ms. Adams provided an estimate of wages for all tutoring areas.  The information will be considered for English tutors as it relates to the QEP budget.  The Committee discussed utilization rates and determining the number of hours to include in each year of the QEP.  The hiring of tutors will be phased in as needs are assessed.  Fall 2013 will serve as a pilot for the QEP to allow for input by the on site committee.  The physical space needs of the Writing Center need to be identified for the budget.
Other budget items such as staffing and salary needs, Smarthinking, software products and licensing were discussed.   Qualifications of staff for writing center and release time for faculty members were also considered.  Mr. Sandidge will follow up with Dr. Capps.
The meeting adjourned at 2:00 p.m.  The next meeting will be held at 1:00 p.m. on March 20, 2014.
