Dr. Lofaso called the meeting to order.
Ms. Velez polled the committee about rescheduling the April 3 meeting to noon at the request of Mr. Wade to avoid a conflict with the College Governance Committee meeting.  The Committee approved.
Mr. Sandidge, Ms. Adams, and Ms. Ogden provided an update on their Marc h19 visit to Virginia Western Community College.  They described the structure of the Learning Resource Center and the staffing.  Based on their model, developmental education students receive one on one tutoring by peer tutors.  The Writing lab is staffed by writing consultants who, in most cases, hold a master’s degree in English.   All tutors and writing consultants participate in training offered by VWCC.  Their tutor training program is certified by College Learning and Reading Association (CLRA).
Other Committee members will plan to visit the Learning Resource Center to gain their perspective as it relates to CVCC’s QEP.  Ms. Ogden will share in the information for becoming certified by CLRA for consideration by the Committee.  Mr. Sandidge requested budget items be sent to him as they arise so that he may begin to form the budget for the five-year plan.  He will follow up with Dr. Capps on spacing and staffing needs once the committee makes a recommendation.
Mr. Gatti provided an update from the Marketing sub-committee.  There is currently one submission for the logo contest.  The deadline has been extended to March 31 due to numerous days missed for inclement weather.
Ms. Velez provided an update on the post-test for ENF 3 which has been developed.  She and Dr. Randolph will follow up with Pearson regarding the post test for ENF 1 and 2.
The meeting was adjourned at 1:00 p.m.  The next meeting will be March 27 at 1:00 p.m.
