Lofaso called the meeting to order. The
April 10, 2014 meeting is canceled due to the absence of several committee
members who will be attending the New Horizons conference.
Velez presented the entries for the QEP logo contest. There were a total of sixteen submissions. The Committee discussed and reviewed the
entries and agreed that the overall quality of the submissions was
excellent. After discussion, Ms. Velez
made a motion to choose submission #5 with the modification to add “CVCC” to
the logo. The motion was seconded by Ms.
French and unanimously approved by the Committee.
Lofaso made a motion to select entry #8 as the 2nd place award
recipient. The motion was seconded by
Mr. Gatti and approved by the Committee with one abstention.
Velez will notify Mr. Riley of the decisions and ask that he obtain permission
from all of those who submitted to use their work for promotional events and
for future initiatives related to the QEP.
Sandidge presented a draft of the QEP budget for 2014-15. Items related to supplies, professional
development, and marketing will be submitted through the College’s annual
budgeting process. Mr. Sandidge will
address renovation and personnel costs with Dr. Capps and Mr. Poole. Mr. Sandidge will take recommendations from
the Committee for consideration of the long-term plans related to a Learning
Resource Center and associated improvements in support of the QEP.
Lofaso, Dr. Randolph and Ms. Velez are planning to visit the Virginia Western
Community College Learning Resource Center and Writing Center on April 9.
