Dr. Lofaso called the meeting to order.  She shared with the committee that she, Ms. Velez, and Mr. Riley had just finished an open forum “Coffee, Tea, and the QEP” in the student center from 12 to 1pm with a focus on displaying the logo contest entries.  Eight of the 17 students who entered the contest came to the event, and 52 QEP pens were distributed.  Students who visited the table expressed interest in receiving more help with their writing, particularly in the area of grammar.  Their responses to the QEP were positive.  Dr. Lofaso and Ms. Velez will host another “Coffee, Tea, and QEP” later today (5pm) with evening students as the target group.

Ms. Velez informed the committee that a meeting of Developmental English instructors took place on April 15 during which they discussed assessment test procedures for this semester’s post test.  They also assigned coordinators for each of the ENF classes as follows:  Lorna Nelson (ENF 1), Russ Woods (ENF 2), and Lana Velez (ENF 3).  These coordinators will work closely with QEP leaders.

Mr. Riley provided an update on the Marketing Subcommittee’s recent plans and activities.  The winning QEP logo has been revised with “CVCC” and the school colors added.  The “Cougar Feud,” a Family Feud game show sponsored by the QEP, will be on Thursday, April 24 at 12:30pm.  The contestants are representatives of SGA and the Ambassadors.  Information about the QEP will be provided to all who attend, and the “commercial break” will be a power point humorous ad for the QEP.  The QEP will also have a table at the Student Appreciation Picnic on Friday, April 25.

The committee then discussed the requirements/suggestions for a writing center space based on group visits to Virginia Western.  The Learning Resource Center subcommittee will meet and make a formal recommendation to the QEP committee.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:00.
